RSD 1,636: my in laws made me a lovely belated birthday dinner tonight. At the table, my mother-in-law asks: “are you still running?” The husband openly guffaws at her and goes: “is the Earth still round? Of course she’s still running.” [if you’re a flat-earther, feel free to check out now]
Made it to the gym so that when morning comes around, I can attest that I’m still a runner... streaking day and night. Also managed a little elliptical session in, too, since the mileage has been 👉🏾👈🏾 itty bitty lately. Felt good to keep the sweat up a little longer.

this felt SO. GOOD. only two miles but man. I needed a run that felt like this. the weather was perfect too, cold for tucson in May but ideal for running. I would’ve sped up more at the end, but Bixby was dragging some and I didn’t want to push him too much. we stopped a few times, naturally, but I’m still so happy with how the run went. these adidas are money.
Who would’ve thought a medal would mean so much.. 4 years ago, the Joplin Memorial Half Marathon was my first long distance race. Before I started training, I could barely run 2 blocks, but my goal was to finish the race for the 161 people we lost in the Joplin Tornado in 2011, including those 3 sweet kiddos I watched at the Boys and Girls Club. The disaster was a time in my life that I’ll never forget, but I’m so thankful to be able to run through the path of the tornado every year to celebrate our community and the lives of those we lost that day.🎈
⚡️It’s YOU vs YOU!⚡️ This is not a before and after, but my 2 recent PR runs and half marathon races. I’m dang proud of both of these races, but there is something to be said about the training and feel for each race, race day weather and the course ran on. Even though my time last year is faster by a couple of minutes, the course was much easier and I’m just as proud of the race from this year on a flatter course. .
The photo on the right was almost a year ago where I set my half PR of 1:30:02 and qualified for the New York City marathon for the first time! 🏃🏼♀️🏅🎉 I would be lying if I said those darn 3 seconds to get a sub 1:30 didn’t sting, but they have kept me hungry for more.... This race is very downhill and I knew I would probably get a big PR running this race, but I still trained very hard all spring to make this time happen!! 💪🏻 .
Fast forward to earlier this year in February when I raced the PHX half marathon and PRd my 10k during the race and ran my second fastest half marathon time ever and qualified for New York for 2020! 🎉 This was right during a long and hard training cycle for Boston and I’m very happy that my legs cooperated on this race and that my goal time was a 1:32 or better on this course and another NYC qualifier and I was able to achieve that even on a day that I was tired. .
Sometimes the time on the clock doesn’t always reflect the training. And that’s ok! All of that training is banked and I’m hoping for another half PR next month! Even if I don’t get it, I’m always happy and proud of what I have achieved, but that doesn’t mean I’m not hungry for that sub 1:30! Its scary to put that out there to the universe but also empowering! I hope I can, I know I can! 🏃🏼♀️💪🏻🏅 #YouVSYou#comparisonisthethiefofjoy#halfmarathon
Step out of the dark into better light
And carry your scars like a badge of pride
You've come so far
You know who you are
All this time you've had the will inside
To stand your ground the day that hell arrives
You're armed and ready
You will hold steady

“Run Often. Run long. But Never outrun your joy of running.” -Julie Isphording 💕💕
Rainy day a majority of the day today so I did a treadmill run this morning. It cleared up later in the day so I did a run outside! 🌦It’s supposed to rain all week so I had to take advantage of the break in the rain! 🌧🏃🏼♀️
I had to visit the office today to onboard a new person. My phone was blowing up and i couldn’t respond. Well... here’s why 👇👇Asheville half marathon spotlighted me and my friend in their email today. There’s still time to register if interested. $10 off w/code ACTIVE
Also klappe halten und langsam aufbauen.

🇬🇧Last Sunday I participated in the Liberty 10k race. The night before, I traveled by bus from Guimarães to Madrid, I arrived at 7.30 am and I immediately went to the race! What a great event! 2 km running down🏃♂️⬇️, another 4 km up⬆️ and finally 4 km down⬇️. 10 km to 5:30 min / km of average pace! It was a sunny morning and the people were so excited! I definitely enjoyed the race!
I am grateful with Monis for her support, photos and videos! Thank you so much, my dear friend 😘
At the end I used my new customized t-shirt from Perú. This was my birthdays' present thanks to Monis. Last February, she bought it in Perú 😍👏👏👏.
Note to self: doing spin class 2 days in a row before a long run is a bad idea. Only managed 15 of my scheduled 20 km today before my legs called it quits. It turned out to be a beautiful long weekend though! Spending the rest of the day relaxing in the gazebo ☀️

Hello 2019 ~ no new goals or resolutions for this gal, I am going to continue living an amazing, happy life that I choose to create and live ~ •
Boston Bound is 3 years old today! On May 16, 2016 the book was published and the first copy was sold. When I finished writing the book, I wasn’t sure if I was going to publish it. Would anyone read it? Was I putting too much personal information out there? Was it any good?
I figured I had nothing to lose, so I might as well just do it and see what would happen. I expected maybe 50 people tops would buy it. Mostly friends and family. I never thought it would sell over 100 copies, let alone over 1,000! And so quickly too.
If you haven’t read my book yet, I classify it as a “self help memoir” in which you learn the lessons it took me 7 years to learn. And all of them are about having the right mindset for marathon running, or for achieving ANY goal. It also tells a story, which I’ve been told makes it a “page turner”.
I love getting DMs and hearing from readers about how the book helped them BQ or achieve other goals.💙💛
For more about Boston Bound, see the link in my bio or search for it (or my name) on Amazon.com.
Things don't always go how you want them to. Being disappointed is okay, I learned that I don't always have to hide my feelings and try to make it a positive. I had so much fun this weekend even though the race didn't turn out well.
So thankful for @sonofragingjoe and @meredithkeatingmorris for making us laugh, and cry and eat all weekend. We love spending time with them. I always learn so much.
Positive news on the groin strain this morning! Just need to reduce mileage for a few weeks and it should be okay. Also need to keep the surfaces flat and soft for the next few days. Thanks everyone for the thoughtful messages. I'm very hungry and excited and can't wait to see what the next adventure is.
