One of the things I love about running is the opportunity it provides for great conversations. Not about things that need to be talked about, but just casual conversations when you get to learn about the other person a little bit more and vice versa. Many of my runs are solo runs, so I am usually in my head a lot, but I am really cherishing these times I’ve been having with dad riding beside me.
10km with awesome friends 🙌🏻 and breakfast after where we talked all things RUNNING of course 😝 because that’s exactly how every public holiday should be started 😉🏃🏼♀️J x

Running on very little sleep, both figuratively and literally. But also a lot of coffee. Mmmm coffee. Had a fantastic run tonight while dad rode beside me. He has gotten into rock boxing a few years ago and is now training for his first live match in August!

The iconic Citgo sign in Kenmore Square. If you see this sign, you know where you are. You’ve got a mile to go. The toughest mile of the race after a difficult course only because your legs are done. This Citgo sign is a beacon - not just an icon for the city, it’s also an icon for running Boston. It WILL make you emotional because other than the finish line itself, it’s the symbol for having made it to the end. Boston Strong💛💙
7 days post Boston. A week already!! Still no running and today was my 1st day back in the gym. Feel like it’s been so long when really it’s been less than 2 weeks. 75 min upper body work just to get a sweat going. Felt good💪🏻Taking my sweet time getting back to the pavement. There’s no rush🦄

Not my best and not my worst. Met my C goal today, which was to re-qualify although I already have that for 2020 from running my PR in Chicago last fall. ——
I definitely toed the line today feeling the strongest I’ve ever felt and in 3:18-3:20 PR shape even with the difficulty of this course. I will say that after running Boston 4 consecutive years, that today was my hardest Boston. ——
It got so sunny, hot and humid. That shouldn’t be an excuse though. I haven’t walked a marathon in years. I walked probably 6 times in between miles 16-21 in the Newton hills portion. Then walked every water stop after that. I was drinking 3 cups of water and then dumping 2 on my head. I was so thirsty and hot. Then I had side stitches last 2 miles. I really thought I could pull off 3:18-3:20 today. I guess you win some, you lose some. I can’t help but be disappointed in myself because I know I can do better. I should have fought harder. I know I can do better and I did fight today but it was a mental and physical struggle. ——
However, I’m honored to have run this course again and grateful for my finish time and the opportunity. Marathons are hard. Much respect to everyone that ran today. Thank you Boston, you still have my heart - I ain’t mad at cha.

It’s time - time for a throwback Thursday to last year’s one and only, Boston Marathon! My 3rd consecutive. After coming back from injury, it was the 1st marathon I had raced since the previous Boston. I was fit and stronger than ever. The one factor that kept changing: the weather. 💦💦
Fun facts: there were over 3000 no shows that day and 1200+ drop outs on race day, including 23 elites! Coldest Boston in 30 years. Temps started at 30 degrees and finished at 38. 32-48 mph wind gusts: yes!! Hail. Constant freezing/slanted rain: 2 inches during the race. Straight up insanity - at least that’s what it felt like. Perfect chaos. Athletes village was unrecognizable as a huge mudslide. Pandemonium. Crazy clothes. Hundreds in medical tents and 80+ hospitalized for hypothermia. I was not prepared with my “outfit of choice” but made do with what I had. Kept that shower cap on the whole damn race y’all and proud of it! 💦💦
Ran 3:25:32/7:50 pace that day. My 2nd fastest marathon at the time and those last 3 miles when my body was shutting down was a death march, but I can do hard things! At the end, I could barely walk, speech slurred and just in tears over how hard my body was working just to stay warm. It was a Boston PR and of the 10 marathons I’ve run, the one I am the most proud of. Boston, you never disappoint. So much love for this race and respect for all who ran that day!💙💛I cant wait to do it again! #tbt#boston2018
💦💦💦Were you there for this madness?!

After my 35km longrun last wednesday i took two days off from training. This morning i went for a run without any breakfast. I was actually trying for a sub4min pace but i am ok with the result considering i had nothing to eat 💪🏼
***16km/10miles @ 4:05/6:32***
However, if i wanna smash a new PR at Berlin’s Halfmarathon in two weeks i will have to maintain a pace of 3:50min/km or 6:10min/mile. Seems so unreachable 😱
With @bostonmarathon just a week after Berlin’s Half i am hoping for weather like 2017, not the icerain and wind we had last year. That was crazy and one of the hardest Marathons i have ever done ☔️
And then there is @2oceansmarathon 56km Ultra in Capetown another week later. Cant wait to run on Chapmans Peak 🤩

Athletes village shenanigans. On the walk to our wave 2 corral 5 start. Tons of laughs. Started together. Memories made. Perfection. Wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Friends forever. #squad#boston2019
W14D1: perseverance is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th. Obstacles are put in our way to see if what we want is really worth fighting for. 35 days to go💙💛
Easy effort today - hell, all week if I feel like it! Whatever it takes to get the miles done. Oh and DSL/losing an hour got me like:😴😴😴Happy MonSLAY, y’all!
