Mike Reilly, the Voice of Ironman. Looking forward to Saturday and hearing him say those words for the 9th time now, “You are an Ironman”! #ironman#9#imtx#legacy#roadtokona

What a difference 9 days makes. When I first rode this session I struggled to hold both the cadence and power on the final 3 intervals. This time round I maintained a good cadence of 90-95 rpm throughout and the power remainder much more consistent throughout the intervals. This is phase 1 of the Sleep Low set. No carbs this evening and a run 1st thing tomorrow. ————————————————————————————

#tbt We have fun swimming, biking & running. This picture was a quick little getaway the two of us took down to St George awhile ago. Hands down my favorite person to have by my side. He sure makes life fun and is such a good sport for all the pictures I wanna take! .
On a different note, do you guys know how awesome swimming is for you? It improves your cardiovascular system without the impact on your body. All my runner friends...it can help you become a more fit runner but without running as many miles. And I believe it helps my body recover from biking and running. I know it helps with blood flow which aids recovery. .
If you weren’t “raised” a swimmer I am proof all you have to do is start. The swim is usually what holds most of us back from triathlon. The first time I set out to learn to swim, @heathtris watched me and politely said after, “I hope I never see that again.” My swim was pretty bad. It was basically not drowning. From there the next few sessions were focused on just learning to float with my face in the water. Yep...it was that bad. Then we eventually moved to the stroke. I am still learning, growing and changing as a swimmer BUT I show up and learn as I go! If you want to do a Tri...don’t let anything stop you. Just START. Just TRY. And then KEEP trying! .
Also, if you need some “coaching” to learn to swim, I have tagged several people who have helped me along the way that you could reach out to!
Ironman Texas run course recon. The Woodlands is a master planned community 30 minutes north of Houston. The 3 loop, 8.7 mile marathon course is mostly flat. Part of the route is shaded through dense woods that open up to calm lakeside paths along the waterway. Its going to be humid and fast, with a lot of spectator support along the way. I was able to preview the course on the bike. Its good to recon a course prior to race day. It helps to get acclimated and mentally prepared with landmarks so there are no surprises. Familiarity breeds confidence. #ironmantexas#ironmantri#fortiusracing#triathlon#swimbikerun#run#roadtokona#feltbikes#thewoodlands#texas
After #imoceanside703 , I immediately set my sights on #imcanada . But just recently I remembered that I also signed up for a little race called #escapefromalcatraztri and I should probably do some training for that one too. These stairs aren’t made of sand, but hopefully they’ll do the trick! #sandladder
The other day, I gained more knowledge about my run technique! The @8mmsquad work closely with our own run coach, Juha (@enduretraining) from @coach4me.fi on developing the most important and vital part of a #Triathlon , the run. Juha looked at my run with the help of @Runscribe! My mid foot strike is really good, something we're not going to change. We need to change my imbalance regarding my foot strike, the difference is 3Gs and harder on the right side. This is due to my lowered sense of feeling on my right side. And it can be a hip issue in the future. I also need to work on increasing my cadence. It's own around 170 steps a minute. But it needs to be 180+. A quick fix is to listen to a Playlist with music that has songs with beats around 180. In the video you can see how the right foot twists more than the left. This varies a lot, depending on the level of my #NeurologicalTonus . Data is good! Make sure you analyze your stride! Running is an injury prone sport, and it can all be prevented with the right technique! Send Juha a DM!
Third swim in as many days and FAR better than yesterday’s shit show. A slightly shorter race pace session today but PB’s in 750m, 1000m & 1500m. Pretty much all down to trying to keep up with @jackyscho
That 1,500m time puts me on target for beating my Staffs 70.3 Swim time from last year by over 8 minutes (20% improvement).
