It's RACE WEEK here in The Woodlands for IRONMAN Texas!
With that lets talk about mantras and our thoughts for when things get tough and we head to a "dark spot". We say a lot to ourselves when pain starts to creep in and the going get's tough either during training or on race day. The key is to keep those thoughts positive and to use it as fire to push yourself just a little but further then you thought possible!
Here are some of my go to mantras:
🌟It's only one more mile to the next aid station, you can do ANYTHING for a mile!
🌟You are strong, you are capable, you can do this!
🌟You have hurt worse than this before!
🌟I feel no pain, there is no pain, keep going!
🌟You have to be stronger then the rest!
We are all different so find something that works for you and lights that fire! Make it positive and then play it on repeat in your mind so nothing else can creep in.

When ya go outside to test the weather 🌧for ya morning tempo run in your (luckily..matching but still kinda tiny) underwear thinking no-one will be up at this time.. it’s fine..to realise there is a neighbour literally in a house above looking directly at you with the window open! 😂🤦🏽♀️ & due to rainy & rubbish weather the only thing that motivates you to get out the door was Rocky Eye of the Tiger song.. 🎶 Then ya-get-a-wow-pretty-you-surprised-me-views-that-surpass-super-low-expectations to make everything worth it! 😄 Then it shows off like a postcard on ya way to work.😍
Technical group swim class tonight focus = sculling & front crawl breathing exercise 🏊🏼♀️ where I was doing drills for breathing every 5 & 7 breathing! SHEESH that was quite a challenge! 😅... became better at breathing on 5 but 7 seems like some kinda sourcerer superpower I will need to work on..💁🏼♀️😂 I like the challenge though 🎯After this did 2000m but left delt was hurting, did 2500m in total as one session after the other but tbh was totally knackered at the end so a good session hopefully. Realisations..✨🌱It was good to do sculling variations & work on fine motor movements of wrist & hands in these drills🤚🏼
Other realisations is that after the Tour of Alps, Ironman Wales was on Eurosport & it REALLY makes me wanna do it some point..Tenby is so pretty! Plus realised some pro’s started taking their wetsuit off before T1 some when got there something to consider for when do own IM. I hope ya having/have a good day peeps!😉

#tbt We have fun swimming, biking & running. This picture was a quick little getaway the two of us took down to St George awhile ago. Hands down my favorite person to have by my side. He sure makes life fun and is such a good sport for all the pictures I wanna take! .
On a different note, do you guys know how awesome swimming is for you? It improves your cardiovascular system without the impact on your body. All my runner friends...it can help you become a more fit runner but without running as many miles. And I believe it helps my body recover from biking and running. I know it helps with blood flow which aids recovery. .
If you weren’t “raised” a swimmer I am proof all you have to do is start. The swim is usually what holds most of us back from triathlon. The first time I set out to learn to swim, @heathtris watched me and politely said after, “I hope I never see that again.” My swim was pretty bad. It was basically not drowning. From there the next few sessions were focused on just learning to float with my face in the water. Yep...it was that bad. Then we eventually moved to the stroke. I am still learning, growing and changing as a swimmer BUT I show up and learn as I go! If you want to do a Tri...don’t let anything stop you. Just START. Just TRY. And then KEEP trying! .

Ça fait des années que je ne consomme plus ces torchons que l’on appel magazine people.
J’avais oublié la cruauté qui se cache derrière cette daube qui scrute les personnes ayant une certaine notoriété pour les clasher, les juger, les prendre en photo dans les positions les moins flatteuses possibles afin de montrer à tout le monde que eux aussi ils sont... humains ?
Un besoin de montrer les « defauts » physiques en bikini pour que Gertrude, qui lira ce magazine, se sente mieux en regardant les photos jugées peu flatteuse de Eva Longoria ? Avec en légende « elle se fout du regard des autres dans son bikini orange mais peut être qu’elle s’en fout un peu trop quand on voit le résultat ? »
Mais STOP quoi. Arrêtons de croire que la vraie vie est une vie lissée par des applications et Photoshop.
Arrêtons de rentrer dans le jeu de la société en faisant la même chose sur Instagram, en trichant pour ne pas montrer notre vraie peau qui ballote en courant, notre cellulites# et nos traits tirés à la fin de la journée ou les yeux bouffis et plissés de ne pas avoir assez dormi. Nos cernes qui montrent que nous sommes des humains actifs, stressés, entreprenants, travailleurs et inquiets par les aléas de la vie.
Nous ne sommes pas des poupées de porcelaines ! Nos cicatrices, nos vergetures, notre corps témoignent de notre histoire, de nos combats, de nos échecs et de nos plus grandes réussites ! Soyons en fiers. ~

But just recently I remembered that I also signed up for a little race called #escapefromalcatraztri and I should probably do some training for that one too. These stairs aren’t made of sand, but hopefully they’ll do the trick! #sandladder
