Trying out this new Lufkin Shockwave tape measure with the high visibility print. This tape is rated for a 100' drop and still is a nice compact size compared to the Milwaukee Stud. It does have a large hook on the end of the tape and I'm not sure if I like that yet or not. The tape lock works smoothly and has a good hold. Also has a pretty standard belt clip on the back. Definitely a solid tape with a little different look to it. @crescent_tool

Every morning, Santa Fe artist Douglas Atwill paints for a few hours in a light-filled studio. After some gardening, a short nap and a bit of writing, he starts work on his latest passion project: a new house he designed for himself and is helping build a mile away. “I wanted a bigger living room,” he says.
Mr. Atwill is 85 years old. This is the 60th house he has renovated or constructed, most of which are homes he has lived in then sold. And nearly all of them have been in Santa Fe, making him a legend in this artsy desert city.
After four months without a kitchen sink, today was a happy day when the plumber arrived at our house. And best news of all, marble slab #2 was installed on Wednesday without incident. Still need to finish up electrical, backsplash tile, and finish the hardwood floors, but I’m beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. #kitchen#renovation#marble#customcabinets#kitchendesign#interiordesign

Both of our guest rooms are now functional (albeit sparsely furnished), and we cannot wait to host guests as we settle into our new home! This bed was custom designed and made by the incredibly talented @_brandon_watts , so reach out to him if you need any woodwork projects fulfilled for your home and business. Also, this photo is reminding me that I’m not a fan of accent pillows on beds, so that lovely blush number will promptly be moved.

Today we met at @olympic.kitchens.inc to go over kitchen plans and elevations and choose materials and handles. When building cabinetry, it is so important to go over every detail to ensure everyone is on the same page. I must ensure that my original design is interpreted correctly by the Millwork company and their shop drawings and I must ensure the client understands how to read the drawings and what to expect. We don’t want any surprises! It is always a pleasure working with great Millwork companies like @olympic.kitchens.inc who are professional, detail oriented and have a fabulous showroom!

Question: if you were designing your dream closet, would you dedicate more or less space to shoes than what you see here (swipe left to see the other side of the closet).
This is my current closet and I love it but after living with it for almost 3 years I’m noticing that I only wear about 25% of my shoes and the rest are sitting on the shelves collecting dust.
I’m in the process of designing my new closet in the new home I’m about to start building and this time I’m thinking of making the shoe section of the closet significantly smaller.
Do you think it would be an issue with resale? I’m trying to understand how much space most people need (or want) to dedicate to shoes in their closets.
You can see more photos of my closet and renderings of the new home on my personal page @katerumson
