Early (3 hours) into Toughest I was really struggling mentally. I started to question what the hell I was doing, thought it was stupid that I signed up for WTM, and stopped having fun. Thanks to @stevennowitzke and @adambelieve I was able to snap out of it and start having fun again. During the transition, my brother told me that my son was pretending to call me before he went to bed. It reminded me why I was out there in the first place and got my ass back on course. 10-15 min later I ran into Adam right before Black Widow. He was in 2nd place at the time, but asked how I was doing. I told him I was struggling. We tackled the obstacle, he finished first but waited after to make sure I was good. A simple gesture that at the time was huge in uplifting my spirit. I owe you guys big time.
I still hear this fear constantly.
"Your knees aren't suppose to go past your toes in a squat, right?
If you squat, and your heels pop up off the floor and your knees go past your toes = probably stressing out your knees
But... If you keep your heels down (and toes), it's ok for your knees to wander past your toes.
Your knees should go as far forward as your bum goes backwards, otherwise you could be moving through your low back 😬
Check out how a little kid squats in a sandbox... We're built for it 💪
Slightly late posting this but I am super proud of earning this finisher medal. Last year I did the Sprint in over 4 hours. It was pretty hard, especially hiking up the mountain several times. This year I completed the same race in 2h22. I did fail the monkey bars & rope climb obstacles, however I did try my best.
I bought the Trifecta plaque to fit in the pieces from Spartan Super & Beast (June 30 and Sept 1). I have never attempted such a hard race before. To be honest I am very nervous and scared. But it will be a fun experience to getting there.

As usual, #spartanbigbear kicked my ass up and down that mountain again... the first 6 miles were soul crushing, and I ran on fumes the whole 2nd half of the race. Best part of the weekend was seeing my spartan family, love seeing everyone!! I’m glad it’s over 😬. On to #Monterey in 2 weeks. 📷 @spartancameragirl
⚠️ WARNING SAPPY POST ⚠️ This year I decided was going to be different than the past two Mudder years before. I was going to start setting goals for myself, and push myself harder than before. I was no longer “just going to finish” a race, I knew that I could. I wanted more. Athlete status?! Maybe... Idk. However, I do know that I’ve never trained like this before in my life - 7 days a week, setting/reaching goals. Pushing myself hard! 🧡I had two goals I set for Toughest this weekend. My first goal was to run the entire race and my second was to reach a certain mileage. When I did not accomplish either of those goals, I was crushed and really disappointed in myself. Idk, maybe since this was my first race that I was truly racing against myself, my expectations where set too high. I really don’t know. 🧡 As a Little Person, I’ve had to fight for everything, and I’ve always been able to get up when pushed down. This was a first - I was pushed down and for the first time ever, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get back up. I did though as it wasn’t easy. I am working on being happy with my two little wins at Toughest - I ran more than I ever have in a race (2/3 of my mileage) and I finished what I consider my hardest race yet. 🧡 Lastly, I want to thank our Mud Family. Y’all are amazing. You continue to teach me something new each day. The support, encouragement, and love you show for each other is rare and is what being a family is, even when 1000 of miles apart. Your hugs, assistance, encouraging words, high fives, and even stopping to introduce yourself throughout the night meant the world to me and kept me going. Thank you. I’m sorry for those who I did not say goodbye to or did not spend as much time with as I wanted to, I owe you. I must also say thank you to my two amazing teammates, Ryan and Tom - both complete badasses and I was honored that you all “ran” with me! And to @shadston and @mrjwyatt, thank you for your endless support, belief in me, and for helping me become the best me. 🧡 I will come back stronger and will continue to set goals and reach them. I will learn from my failures and play off my strengths. Vegas Toughest, I am coming for you. Xoxo!!!
This was my first time doing the #mudstash and it was a blast, literally a MUD shindig. Just by standing at the Starting line with more than 2” thick of mud on our shoes makes it so hard to run. The course mostly comprise of natural obstacles makes it fun. Placed 12th overall but could have done better if only I ran faster. 🤪 I would definitely do this OCR again next year.
Next race will be the #honorthebrave5k this coming memorial day befor my trip to Ohio next month for my 1st trifecta.
F R E E Y O U R M I N D. #throwback to Spartan Race St. Pölten. I was really happy with the race regarding my mindset: it already started in Orte not putting so much pressure on me regarding the result rankingwise. .
I was of course still focusing but more on my own performance, experimenting with new nutrition during the race and keeping a constant pace on that flat course which is not my strength - comparing to the top girls which are just on another level 💥.
Well, as usual, I failed at the spearthrow and slackline but I had enough lead to ensure a 9th place. .

Pack Your Bags
If you are racing this weekend at the @spartan Big Bear Sprint or Beast, I would definitely recommend bringing a pack of some sorts with you.
I like to use a @camelbak or @ospreypacks. It has compartments for not only your water, but to also hold other supplies you might need.
What to pack:
-@charley_mindfulmixtures -change of clothes
What do you take with you?
