Just was blessed with the most rewarding experience. My day 1 Ivy Tech best friend, Cynthia set up our service learning project at Wheeler Mission in downtown Indianapolis. A few other culinary, baking and management students volunteered with us and helped create such a heartwarming and unforgettable memory. The Mission is an amazing asset to our community. They are there to help, teach and guide people who are less fortunate then others. They spread their love to each and every person involved. Chef Brown, who was the person that guided us through the process, is a chef who could potentially work at a very high end restaurant but chooses to help the community in more ways than just this. He creates his meals, not to get the job done and go home, but to make sure that everyone who will be having this meal, knows that they are cared about. Chef Brown wants his heart to show through his food, so the people who are living there keep moving forward. His positive and giving attitude is admirable and I am so grateful I was able to learn from him today. I love their goals that they have for people seeking help from them. I love how they try and make sure every detail is in place for these men to succeed and I love the opportunities that are given because of the people within the building. This will not be the last time The Wheeler Mission sees this cooking challenged volunteer. #wheelermission#thankful#helpingothers#donate#weallhavesomethingtogive#whilehelpingyourself#humbleyourself#camealongway#ivytech#hospitalityprogram
