Changing fortunes, a fresh start. Something that was seemingly impossible since August last year. Something that seemed inevitable for ALP since August last year... Great article in SMH comparing Shorten's strategy metaphorically with him carrying an IKEA flat pack and Allen key while Morrison trailed with a hammer to knock down everything he sought to construct.
It is an interesting commentary on politics globally and the contest of/for ideas.
How Australia responds as a nation is as important as how Morrison is capable of painting a vision for the future.
I am still in shock from what happened on Saturday and the result that went completely against everything that was predicted.
Someone asked me, why are you sad about the result of the election? It's a good question because if I'm brutally honest, it doesn't really affect me who is in power.
I have to acknowledge that I live a very privledged life. I'm white, I went to university, I have a full time secure job, I am free of disability or chronic illness.
But I am sad because I care about things much bigger and more important than myself.
▪️I care about the treatment of and respect for women.
▪️I care about affordable access to healthcare.
▪️I care about affordable access to education.
▪️I care about funding for our public broadcaster.
▪️I care about big companies paying tax to relieve the pressure on those struggling.
▪️I care about the fact that ever summer our country burns, our reef is dying, and we're well behind on transitioning to renewable energy.
I understand, Australia has spoken, and this all comes a little bit too late. If you have any feels from Saturday, or have any silver linings, I'd love if you could share below ⬇️ This Canberra gal could use a little hope ❤
The dust is settling in this post-election period & as many of our leaders and black commentators have reflected, yes we have reason to feel the disappointment that came with the results - but we have more reason to be hopeful for the future. We have always resisted and always fought and we will continue to do so. So let’s come together and take action. As @seedmob (who we’ve reposted this pic from) reflected, “Whether you're feeling sad, angry, fired up or a combination of all the above plus more, just know that there's young mob right across the country planning and getting ready to do whatever it takes to protect country and build strong, sustainable communties. We've got a lot of work ahead of us but we can't do it alone, we need you to stand with us! Get involved in whatever way you can...”
Get behind these initiatives and grassroots movements with us - let’s build our own future with or without the suits in Canberra ✊🏾
I would like to say "Thank you" for the unanimous election as the new President of Würzburg Toastmasters! In the coming year, together with my board team, we will ensure that we make our club even more present - as the first point of contact for anyone who wants to practice the art of publuc speaking in Würzburg.

Du bestimmst, ob wir weiter unsere Natur zerstören oder endlich mit echtem Artenschutz anfangen.
Probably the #funniest thing out of our #federal#election , in my opinion. The #senate#ballot#paper , almost as long as a #toilet roll, had 31 different #groupings on it. This meant that across the top of the paper they went through the whole #alphabet and then had from AA to AE at the end. One #candidate was the #Pirate#Party , and I have no idea at all what their #policies may have been, but out of 31 options on that space of paper, they were given the letter R. If you don't think this is #funny , think about the sound one might most readily associate with #pirates . Put on your best paste #voice :
"AHHRRRRR, me hearties..."
