"Am I not worthy of loyalty?
I grind my ass off,
should be taking their hats off.
But I don't mix:
I want to be a wifey but those boys just wanted to knife me, sayin they spent a night with me, like I'd entertain it, unlikely -
: dropping my name for an ego boost but they forgot I've ruled the roost..
--- So, wheres my royalty?..
I'm paving the way, laying down these bricks but I think he's got lost, wandering around collecting stones and sticks.
And I still believe that true love exists." ..💧.. 💖
An incredibly varied and productive Sunday at @ilfdublin!
James and @rurooie both benefited from @artmaker_dublin’s expertise - James saw the literary monuments of Dublin through a new lens on a drawing tour, while Ruth attended a comic book workshop and brought a wonderful story to life through her art.
@samcox301 went through the Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin and then on a deep dive into the art of the essay, where there was interesting discussion about the separation of the essay from journalism and the versatility of the word ‘essay’ in describing a piece of non-fiction whose form shifts to meet the demands of the piece.
Finally, as James, @cassiagadengilmartin and @aoife_riach saw, LGBT literature took center stage in both Aine O’Hara’s poetry and performance workshop and an evening of Irish LGBTQ+ poets, fostering powerful and productive conversations on the future of queer voices in the Irish literary scene, and the ways in which queer cis and trans writers can uplift one another through writing.
All in all, a strong end to a busy weekend! Can’t wait to see what Monday will bring!
