Being mobile is a crucial aspect of being healthy. If you aren't able to move a joint freely through its full range of motion, then you are increasing the chance of injury before even attempting to pick up a weight and load that range of motion.

Looking to enhance your muscle up? Or wonder why we do chin ups?... Chin ups help balance the pressing volume; are necessary for wrist, elbow and shoulder health; and are a useful assistance movement for the muscle up... #ForgingEliteSexiness

Was a strengthy one today with:
Max rep bench @BW (body weight)
Max rep pull ups
CrossFit is designed to be for everyone so of course if you couldn't do the bench at body weight then you work with a weight that is comfortable with you and that still allows you to work evenly across all 5 sets. Same with the pull ups. If you're not consistent in your pull ups yet then not to worry, they are easy to scale. We had pulls ups, banded pull ups and ring rows going on tonight. Just do what works for you.

No Wednesday workout video tonight unfortunately but instead we have a few snaps from the 6:30pm open gym session.
Open gym doesn't necessarily mean you have to follow the board. You can focus on something you're not good at or perhaps do a workout you've seen and want to give it a go. Today the guys focused on over head movements: the over head yoke and the over head back squat. 2 great movements. Nice jobs guys!

⁉️The bench press⁉️. What is it? How does it help? Why is it in our programming?. CrossFit is mostly up and down… If you look at their 9 foundational movements you’ll see that it’s all up and down with nothing in the frontal plane, meaning very little chest… There’s very little back either… What this means is that the shoulder structure [a floating joint] doesn’t have the necessary support from the chest and back, which will inevitably lead to shoulder problems…
If you’re going to push and pull vertically, you need to push and pull horizontally if you want to be fit, strong and healthy.
And that is exactly what the bench press does. We got some awesome 2RMs today so what a great start to the new year‼️

The key to success in 2019 (and life) has been voiced by the one and only @tiaclair1 . "My approach to goal-setting would start by identifying a precise, positive goal. Create short-term goals that will lead you to the final result you desire. • Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. You may have similar goals, however, each person’s journey is different.
• Understand this and follow the short-term goals you have laid out for yourself.
• Embrace setbacks, nothing great comes easy. This is a goal of yours and it means a great deal to you, so embrace potential setbacks, know that if this happens make slight adjustments to get you back towards your short-term goals.
• Finally, enjoy the process. Great success comes from all the smaller goals you have put in place. So enjoy those victories while pursuing your final goal." Set yourself some small achievable goals at the beginning of each month that you want to accomplish by the end - in CrossFit and in life. Let us know your monthly CrossFit goals and share your journey with us! We love seeing what you legends can achieve! Happy Friday 🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️

🤸🏻♀️ Tuesday Top Tip 🤸🏻♀️
Keep a record of the training you do. Whether that be on your phone or in a notebook. It will help when knowing what weights to use next time, record those legendary PB's (other than on the board) and best of all, be a record of the hard work you all put in every time you step into the box. .
If you don't already write it down. Start. It will help.

It’s always such a pleasure training back here! 🍑💪🏼
Our very own @bryonyb77 may have her handstand down, but if you're not quite there Camille Leblanc-Bazinet has some helpful tips to develop yours. 💜
"A bumper plate is a simple tool for you to feel the proper body position needed for a handstand. With the plate overhead, you should squeeze your butt and bring down your rib cage with your abs, eliminating excessive lower back arching".
