Guess who went out and ran the first 30 minute run of the last week of Couch25k...? ME! It was ME! And now I’ve got a big red beetroot head because I can’t lie, that last 10 minutes was particularly hard, and those naughty voices that tell me I can’t do do things have been creeping back in and they were quite adamant I should stop during that run. But do you know what, I bloody didn’t. I dug deep, I put one foot in front of the other and I GOT IT DONE.
My hip/groin is screaming at me to rest so Yoga is definitely where it’s at the next two days.
TWO - I repeat, just TWO runs to go!!! #couch25k#couchto5k#runningmama#beginnerrunner#running#runner#week9

I did it! I ran for 30 minutes continuously, thanks to the @couchto5kjourney programme. It has taken me more than 4 months to get to this point, and I couldn’t be more proud of myself right now. And as a reward I plan to buy myself some new trainers, instead of the chocolate cake I would have had in my previous life. Next step - to be able to run for 5K. At my current pace that means running for about 45 minutes, but I’m confident I can do it. .

Don’t let that little voice in your head hold you back by telling you that it’s not possible.
That voice is a LIAR!! We are capable
We are much more than we believe
We all have the choice and the freedom to get up, eat well and throw those MF excuses out the window.
Inspired by @hardwickercat and @fiona_slimmingworld_diaries and her half term fitness reset I got back out with my #couchto5k app. Plan was to do week 7 which is a 25 minute run. Reality was it felt good and I did a 34 minute 5K 🤗 I’ve realised it’s completely a mental game for me, it’s not a physical barrier. Not sure how best to deal with that... however chuffed with today. #run#halfterm
I love easy meals... basically, if it involves more than one dish and takes longer than 30 minutes, I'm 99% less likely to be making it 🙌🏼 #lazycook .
This is casserole veg (frozen cause less waste), chicken, chopped tomatoes and spinach. Add some seasoning and delish 😋

W7 R1 👎🏻 nope. Turns out a weekend of drinking and eating purely carbs and sugar wasn’t good prep for my second 25 min run. Got to the half way mark and had to stop and sit on the bank for a breather, got up to continue the second half and flopped again after a few mins. Bath, healthy dinner, early night and try again tomorrow morning #firsttimerunner#couchto5k
This morning I knew I wanted to get out and do a good walk. I then had the mad idea of running😳 but as I have never run before I decided to try couch-5k. It was HARD. I got half way and wanted to give up. Especially when it said 2 more runs to go! But I did it and ran for 8 minutes in total. Got so out of breath, my throat hurt as I probably inhaled too much air. Not feeling keen over doing it again😂 got in 8.2k steps though by mid day so I’m pleased about that. Absolutely shattered now😴
The very honest face after my 8x 1 minute runs! 😂 Back on couch to 5k a year after I started it🏃♀️Although I technically can run 5k now, it's slow and hard and I don't enjoy it. If I'm not on a park run I tend to give up after 3k or before 20 minutes. Restarting this programme I aim to go much faster, and therefore ultimately further than 5k one day. I really went for it actually running these 1 minutes slots today instead of ploddy jogging as I did last year.
THIS PROGRAMME DOES WORK!! I remember doing this same run a year ago, and being the same colour in the face and just as out of breath when my 'run' was barely faster than my walk, in fact some days I know it was slower! For anyone who is thinking of trying it, just do it. I couldn't run for a more than a minute when I started but I did finally achieve 30 minutes of slow jogging and it still amazes me I can just about do that.
As I am already a success story of couch to 5k, I hope using it again will keep me motivated to get out 3 times a week - because its the regularity that really makes the difference.
I also love being spurred on by the voice of @thesarahmillican, I really believe her pre recorded tones are proud of me when she says I'm doing well!! 🌟 ♥
Today is Week 7 Run 1 (25 mins) #couchto5k in the Oxted Alps. Pretty sure I’m going to have to run 40 minutes to reach 5k.

Today I also started the #couchto5k from the BBC. I have been going to the gym more often and slowly my fitness levels are improving. I have never in my life been for a run but it wasn’t too bad and I think having the goal of 5k is something to aim for!
May 21.19 Day 2 started! Had a rough night and really wanted an extra hour of sleep but NOT TODAY! Jumped up (well rolled over and banged my toe) got my sweater and headphones on and said let’s do this! Feels good! #running#jogging#couchto5k#wakeup#nottoday#justdoit
Today is my first 5k in months!! What is exciting about that isn’t that I’m running again. It’s that i will be helping brand new baby runners cross their very first finish line!!! 🤗🏃🏻♀️🏃🏿♀️ There is a reason that community service and volunteering is good for the soul and that is because when you give, you get so much in return.
2019 is not my year to run, at least not for the first part of the year. It is the year of giving health and running to my community. I am so excited for today!!!

Not bad for a Monday morning walk-run-walk-jog kinda thing
8 miles down 💪
Forgot that there were THREE seven minutes free forms at the end. Ran nine minutes in the ten minute free form as my asthma didn't like it. Then ran all three of the seven minute ones. AND THEN I wasn't near home yet so I carried on running for another 5 minutes. I ran 35/55 minutes. And there were squats. Hate squats #zombierun#couchto5k#firstimerunner#running#zr5k#zombierun#hatesquats#asthma
This evening I had planned to get out for an 8-9 mile run, but our incredibly kind neighbour agreed to babysit so that @speirs888 and I could go and vote...and then go for a run together!
The last time Bex and I were able to get out a run together was about 2 years ago so tonight was very special.
Hats off to all the couples out there that are constantly tag team running to train for various races. It’s not easy being like ships in the night passing each other in the door.
That’s is usually how Bex and I operate but tonight was a huge treat. A date night run along the canal just near our house with open fields and a beautiful setting sun.
Can’t beat it 😊👌❤️

A tough day at the #edinburghmarathon ! I felt really strong for the first 19 miles and was potentially on course for a sub 2.40 run, but the marathon had other ideas. At mile 19 we turned into a very strong headwind which felt like it stopped me dead in my tracks. My form changed and my legs dropped. The final 7.2 miles were hard going and the wind zapped all of my energy. I know everyone else was in the same boat though and it was a case of just getting to the finish line! The weather is always going to be out of our control but I’m happy with my performance and there’s plenty of positives to take away from today! How did everyone else do?
