Caption contest! Winner will get a surprise mail from me 💌 ps : I do not know the man on my right 😂 but his expression made me laugh! I did not hang with that pack too long- as you guys know my injuries are keeping me busy all year 😢 #beachandbayhalf#sandiegorunners
Another #MedalMonday and another PR. It wasn't Boston 😂, but I ran the @beachandbayhalf 10k Saturday and took home 3rd place for my age group! Good practice for the La Jolla half in just 13 days. However, I was mainly there to support Amanda as she ran the half marathon. And she crushed it!! #beachandbayhalf

After absorbing this past weekend, I’m finally ready to sit down to chat about my race. I mean, I used to blog about this shit in great detail so if you knew me from those days, you shoulda expected this. 😉 But it’s more for the sake of my own memory.
This was my first half marathon in 2 years. So I think it goes without saying that I was excited and nervous to show up to the start line. I finally accepted that my 13th half wasn’t going to be a PR, but it was going to be my first half in a brand new body and mindset. I took my position near the 2:10 pace group because even though I CRAVED a sub-2 (old Lindsey kicking in), I knew that my race would be far more enjoyable if I stayed real with myself rather than literally chase something that’s not right for me this time around.
When the race began, my eyes were on the watch, but my legs weren’t listening. I was running a 9:20 when I was planning to start at 10:00. 🤦🏻♀️ It took me about 3 miles to find a pace that both my mind and body could agree on and that was basically meeting right in the middle at 9:40/mile.
I felt good though. The pace wasn’t a struggle despite it not being my plan. And the miles flew! By mile 5, I almost forgot I should probably eat half my @larabar. I almost decided against it, but knew this good feeling probably wouldn’t last. So I chewed on the go!
Once I reached the halfway point, my feet felt a bit sore, but nothing was painful. I was worried my blisters would come back in full force, but I just stayed mindful and moved on.
The final 3 mile stretch was the worst for me. Less shade with the sun in full force. I tried getting water at every aid station, but it started to feel heavy on my stomach. And TMI...I definitely had to poop. 💩🙈 But I wasn’t stopping being this close to the end.
During the last half mile, I started feeling like I was going to throw up, but when you hear your husband and friends cheering you on, the need to throw up magically goes away.
I crossed the finish line at 2:07:12. That’s 16 minutes better than 2 years prior!
While not my best, it was one that definitely helped give me some of my confidence back! 💕
YOU DID IT! 🎉 Whether you ran the 5k, 10k or Half, we are so very proud of you! BIG thank you to everyone who helped us make this event possible! Can’t wait to see you all back again at the STARTING LINE in 2020! 💪🏼 #beachandbayhalf
How did it go?
1:55 (I am happy with it)
Miles 9-13.1 were “is it over? Should I walk?” thoughts.
Technically it was a “long run” day, I used this race for training. Easiest course I’ve ever done and probably the hardest race. My legs weren’t keeping up. But I’m thankful to them, they carried me to the end. Beautiful course!
I love Saturday races because I have time to rest Sunday before going back to work and school on Monday. I’ve done the #beachandbayhalf every year since it’s inaugural race in 2017. It has almost no hills and is always beautiful. I’ll be back next year!
Waaaay slower than last year’s 02:34 finish time (because i gained so much weight) but i felt waaay stronger this year and didn’t cramp my legs out during the run! 🏅✌🏽 .
